Split – Some West Coast Chic

Split – West Coast Chic; time for coffee…?

Forget Hollywood, come and enjoy Split’s very own sunset boulevard … The West Coast is a promenade stretching 623 meters in length which you starts at Matejuska (fishermen port). Paved entirely with white stone from Brač, it hosts luxurious yachts with cafes and restaurants along its entire length. In 2013 it was completely renovated and now represents a popular meeting point for the locals and guests alike.

The West Coast is not only a place where with you can enjoy the most spectacular views of Split whilst sipping your coffee, it is also the place Split boasts its many Olympic medal winning athlete’s who, in doing so, have promoted Split all around the world.

The athletes are each represented by a bronze plate, arranged chronologically, showing the year of the Olympics, the hosting City, and the medals they won. On a summers day in Split, the cafes get very busy as locals seek the cool of the West Coast so much so that an old Split joke goes along the lines that on a sunny day it’s easier to get yourself a bronze plate for Olympic achievement than to get a seat at a cafe on the West Coat.

So, why not act like the locals … take your book, a best friend, your mobile, your laptop or whatever takes your fancy – bring your sunglasses, drink copious amounts of great coffee and absorb the sun’s rays whilst enjoying spectacular views over Diocletian palace and islands.

If you fail to get the seat you want there’s always the consolation prize that your chances of winning an Olympic medal have just been significantly boosted!!! Alternatively, if the prospect of such sporting success makes you want to immediately take that 1st tentative step along that path, why not join us on our Split cycling tour which provides a “gentle” start to your ambition and is a fully guided tour of the whole beautiful area of the West Coast Split cycling tour
