A great overview of the city’s history, sights and sounds whilst focusing, though not exclusively, on its rich gastronomic traditions. We get you started with a great cup of coffee from the city’s finest coffee bar whilst we set your culinary compass in Split. Then we’re off for a tour through the palace, pausing at Villa Spiza, perhaps the old town’s best known family run restaurant and much admired by Rick Stein on his recent visit to Split. We pass through many of the old city’s passageways noting the various restaurants and eateries as we go, their specialism and nuances, history and traditions. You are welcomed into a local konoba (restaurant) where you sample a number of the area’s local olive oils and wines – the differences in taste and colour duly noted and explained!!

We pause at the wonderfully characterful Split fish market where you’ll be invited to meet the locals and sample some of their delicious local sardines. Then we go coastal, passing down the sea facing Riva to arrive at the famous green vegetable market – here you’ll be invited to sample some of the local vegetables, meats and cheeses and discuss the foods provenance directly with those who know. Then we are off to sample some local wines, olives oil and more Split delicacies at a local restaurant. This tour not only captures the tastes and smells of Dalmatia in a single bounce but with your newly acquired knowledge of Split cuisine you’ll also be able to make a very considered choice of your Split evening eatery!
