I was born and raised within the walls of Diocletian’s Palace – I may not have quite attained Diocletians emperor status but I do maintain the gardens within the palace. Once I was a sports fanatic and now its just food fanaticism for me. I’m always willing to share details of some of the area’s many peculiarities with tourists and my enthusiams for all things Dalmatian knows no bounds – that’s why I enjoy working in tourism.”

NIKOLINA DANOVIC
“Hi, I’m Nikolina. I’m an economist by profession. I am proud of my Neretva origin (a very fertile agricultural area some 2-hour drive south of Split) and my present “imperial address” – you would not believe it, but I live right in the heart of Diocletian’s Palace.
I used to play music, but music, as it happens, was replaced by the enjoyment of motherhood. Specifically, I have two young children and like many married women, I also have one adult child – my husband!
My role at Gecko is to ensure that the daily finances of Gecko run smoothly and that all guides have the necessary funds for tour disbursements etc – in that way, if I’m doing my job well, you shouldn’t even notice I’m there!!”

“Howdy folks! My name is Tonči and I’m a graduate in English and Russian teaching, but I’ve always been a big history buff ever since I was a child. Therefore, becoming a guide was a really logical decision connecting many of my passions such as, the before mentioned love for history, but also music, cultural heritage, trivia and especially, food! From a very early age I developed a passion for history which led me to study history at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split. I’ve been working since I was seven years old, and I decided it was time to try something new. RINA DODIG
“I’m a graduate in Tourism Operations and Project Management from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Split. I spent 6 months in Riga, Latvia as part of an Erasmus+ program with Riga Technical University and still look back on this as part of a real life fairy tale. My interests include: meeting different people and cultures, traveling the world, working as a steward at summer night dog shows and making cheeseburgers disappear in a minute and then going on a guilt trip workout. Whilst you will often find me behind the desk in one of our Gecko Split offices ready to explain our many tours on offer, I’m also a qualified Split tour guide so sometimes I will take one of our fantastic tours …”

“I am an engineer from the Faculty of Textile Technology in Zagreb. How we interact with each other and respect people is a critical to me. I had an aversion to traffic and vehicles but ever since I got my driver`s licence I’ve worked as a taxi driver. Since then, I have spent a lot of time in the car and I realized that I really love it. Driving relaxes me and I do not see it as a job so much as therapy!
