Island Hopping Tour
ABOUT THIS TOUR
With so many beautiful islands in Croatia – in fact over 1000 islands – only 48 of which are inhabited – why not join us to discover some absolutely beautiful examples of those islands around Split.
Our day starts at the Gecko Tours Office in downtown Split at 7.30am. Then we head for the Riva and board a new boat which seats a maximum 12 people and is fully equipped with all modern equipment and safety gear. We never crowd our boats! We take to the azure Adriatic waters and arrive at the spectacular Blue Cave in a little over an hour. The Blue cave is undoubtedly one of the best known natural beauty spots in the Adriatic because of the glowing blue light that appears at certain times during the day – unmissable.
Then we head to the WW2 Caves. During WW2 these sea caves were one of the main hideouts of Josip Tito, the leader of the Yugoslav Partisans. The caves comprise a labyrinth of underground tunnels, the remains of cannons and abandoned warehouses – a fascinating glimpse into Croatia’s past.
The waters around Budikovac Beach are a beautiful turquoise and constantly change during the day. For most of the year, the island is occupied by a single person who runs a small restaurant on the island. A perfect place to simply jump into the sea from your boat. Smokvina Beach is an equally enchanting beach with crystal clear coves and equally translucent waters.
The Pakleni islands is a chain of islands, approximately 10km in length. The islands are formed of limestone with low scented pine forests. The islands provide numerous small peaceful coves for diving, underwater fishing, swimming and just generally splashing about. This is the time for lunch should you have built up an appetite – either try out the great local restaurant or bring your own packed lunch.
Hvar needs no introduction … Frequented by the rich and famous in the summer months this in an opportunity to take some coffee and people watch, browse the local shops or find somewhere quiet to swim. The quaint cobbled streets in an exquisite setting are certainly worth exploring in Hvar.
Then, after a really entertaining and varied day we’ll return you to Split for about 18.30pm.
